About GMail by Google Logo

The logo in the image appears to represent the branding of 'Gmail by Google'. It consists of the word "Gmail" in a sans-serif font with bold and colorful letters. The letter 'G' is in blue, the first 'a' in red, the 'i' in yellow, the 'l' in blue again, and the 'm' in green. The second 'a' after the 'm’ is actually a red envelope icon with a small white border, representing an 'M', and the flap of the envelope is white with a thin red border.

Below the word "Gmail", there's a smaller text "by Google" in a lighter and smaller grey font. To the right of "by Google" there is the word "BETA" in green capital letters, indicating its beta status at the time this logo was in use.

GMail by Google Logo Information and History

Redesigning the GMail by Google logo was not an easy task. It required careful consideration of the user response. Changing popular logos can be difficult, and in many cases, people react negatively. In the past, people have even reacted aggressively to new versions. But the company decided to give their email client a fresh new look. Read on to learn more about the new GMail by Google logo. If you're not sure if this change is right for you, watch this video.

The Gmail by Google logo has gone through several design changes since the beta version's introduction. The new logo is more straightforward than the previous one, with a single M. Before, the logo included a large red 'M' on a white background. The new logo incorporates the four colours that have been synonymous with Google for many years. However, the design team also received feedback from users and decided to change the envelope element in the new logo.

The original Gmail logo was designed by Dennis Hwang, the same designer who created the doodles for all Google products. He created the initial Gmail logo the night before the company's launch. Hwang used a Catull font for the letter "G," which had an unusually rounded shape. Although he kept the "G" in the font, he replaced the rounded letter with a sans-serif-style glyph.

Basic Colors

We've taken a look at the image and pulled out some colors that are common across lots of logos. The colors below aren't the exact colors found in the image, but approximations to common colors.

Red
Teal
Yellow
Silver

Advanced Colors

We've extracted the below 'advanced colors' from the logo. These should be much closer to the actual colors found in the logo. Our extractor tries to only take the main colors of the image and tries to ignore shading on anti-aliasing or shadows. This generally leads to better results, but in some circumstances you might find a few unusual colors being pulled from the logo.

Vermillion
Cerulean
Emerald
Light mustard
Silver

Hex Colors

The below are the hex colors that are found in the logo. You can assume that these are the actual colors used in the logo. Our color extraction tool that takes the colors from the logo tries to ignore anti-aliasing and shadows, so you may sometimes find a slightly odd result, but this is rare. These colors should be very similar to the Advanced Colors, but you'll notice subtle differences. If you're interested in the exact color then use the hex, but if you're trying to describe the logo then use the Advanced Color or the Basic Color above.
