The three-pointed star motif dates to early Daimler advertising and was registered by Daimler in the early 1900s to symbolize motorisation on land, sea and air. After the 1926 merger of Daimler and Benz the star became the company emblem; the chrome 3D version and the current wordmark evolved in the 20th/21st century.
