About New Google Maps Icon Logo

The logo is a stylized representation of a location pin and map interface. The main shape is that of a teardrop or upside-down water droplet, which is the conventional symbol for a map pin or marker. It is colored in a vibrant red, pointing downwards towards the right-hand bottom corner of the icon.

Behind this red map pin, there is a folded map depicted. The map consists of a simplified, abstract layout featuring geometric shapes in different colors. The upper left-hand side of the map is a bold green rectangle with a capitalized letter "G" in the center, signifying the first letter of the company's name. This green section represents the upper section of the map.

Below this, the map is separated into three diagonal stripes which run from the bottom left corner to the upper right corner. These stripes are colored in yellow, green (lighter than the rectangle with the "G"), and blue, respectively.

The overall look of the icon is modern and clean, designed to be easily recognizable and indicative of map navigation and location services. The combination of the red pin and the colorful map emphasizes the functionality of pinpointing locations on a digital map interface.

New Google Maps Icon Logo Information and History

Until now, the New Google Maps Icon logo has looked a lot like a map. It will now resemble a pin on a white background. Google is also revamping the app to add two new tabs to the bottom of the screen. Instead of the "for you" tab, the app will now have a "saved" tab. The changes make the app look a lot better and are consistent with the overall Google corporate branding.

The original symbol was a red blob that represented a map. Then, in an effort to make it more visually appealing, Google decided to change the color to blue. While blue is a Google signature color, it can also be a sign of stability, freedom, serenity, and even coldness. It is also important to note that the new Google Maps Icon logo makes use of the primary color of blue, which can suggest a sense of serenity. However, this can make the logo look too sterile.

A simple pin icon is the new Google Maps icon, replacing the older map intersection icon. The pin also represents a journey and the starting and ending point. The pin icon has also reflected the company's evolution from a navigation system to a personal assistant. In addition, Google Maps will now feature a feed of popular places and trending topics. This update is a welcome change for both Google and its users.

This generally leads to better results, but in some circumstances you might find a few unusual colors being pulled from the logo.

Pale red
Teal green
Maize
Cool blue
Red brown

Hex Colors

The below are the hex colors that are found in the logo. You can assume that these are the actual colors used in the logo. Our color extraction tool that takes the colors from the logo tries to ignore anti-aliasing and shadows, so you may sometimes find a slightly odd result, but this is rare. These colors should be very similar to the Advanced Colors, but you'll notice subtle differences. If you're interested in the exact color then use the hex, but if you're trying to describe the logo then use the Advanced Color or the Basic Color above.
