The logo is circular in shape and primarily features a golden yellow border with an inner blue ring. Along the top arc of the gold border, the words "DEPARTMENT OF THE" are displayed in capital letters, and along the bottom arc, also in capital letters, resides "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." The inner blue ring bears the inscription "THIS WE'LL DEFEND," centered at the top, executed in a curved fashion following the shape of the ring.

Centered within the blue ring is a round white field that serves as the background for the main emblem.
