Kappa Logo Information and History

The iconic Kappa logo features a silhouette of a man and woman leaning against one another. The logo is meant to represent gender equality and was designed during a photoshoot for the Beatrix bathing suit in 1969. In addition, the original BMW logo was created in-house at Bayerische Motorwerke AG in 1917 and incorporates the colours of the Bavarian flag and the Rapp motorwerks logo.

The Kappa logo has become an iconic part of the sportswear industry. Its logo has a long and rich history, starting in the '60s when the company created its first jeans. In the late '70s, the Italian economic boom sparked a desire for designer clothing among youths. This led to the formation of different urban tribes - Hip-Hop fanatics, for example. The Kappa logo quickly became popular with urban youths, including the rap star Damon Albarn. In the '90s, Kappa's nude omini logo was adopted by many other urban subcultures, including Hip-Hop fans.

The earliest versions of the Kappa logo were quite simple and resembled a letter "K" spelled out in black with a white tank top underneath.
