The logo depicted is a coat of arms-style emblem primarily featuring a shield with a scrolled banner above and below it. The top banner is red with the black text "LEAL E VALEROSA CIDADE DE PORTO ALEGRE" arched along its form. The shield is divided into three horizontal sections.

The upper section shows a castle or fortress with three turrets on a yellow background, representing city defense or strength. The lower section of the shield features a scene where the background is also blue, signifying water or sky. Within this section, there is a golden fortress gate with details showcasing brickwork and an open portcullis. In front of the gate, floating on what appears to be water is an old-fashioned sailing ship with a white sail and a flag.

At the center of the shield is a small red shield bearing a white or silver cross, placed over the point where the yellow and blue sections meet. It could represent a family, religious, or historical symbol.

The bottom scroll mirrors the top in shape and color, displaying the text "RS" in the middle, which likely stands for Rio Grande do Sul, the Brazilian state where Porto Alegre is the capital.
