The Rolling Stones Band Logo Information and History

The Rolling Stones Band logo was first used in 1971 on the album Sticky Fingers. The band worked with Andy Warhol to design the album's cover art. The band needed a new logo to use on the U.S. release. A faxed logo was too low-quality and was returned to the Rolling Stones. The band asked Sound Packaging Corporation to redo the logo in a higher quality.

Pasche based the Rolling Stones' logo on the lips of singer Mick Jagger. Jagger wanted the logo to be simple, but also suggest sexual connotations. Pasche found an illustration of Hindu deity Kali that he liked and decided to use it. Pasche was influenced by Jagger's interest in Indian culture in Britain and decided to use the image. Pasche paid the artist 50 pounds for the sketch.
