Both creatures look toward the central insignia, symbolizing guardianship or support.

Below the insignia, in black uppercase letters on a white ribbon or scroll, is the text "UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE TRUJILLO" followed by a dash and "PERÚ". The text is arranged in a curved formation that matches the lower contour of the insignia.
